Paranoia Game 1 Night 2
Tonight's game continued where the last adventure ended. Our heroes Tyer-R-TIT-2 (me) and Tryst-R-OFN-2 (tom) began in the interrogation building in which they finished the last session. Upon heading outside they noticed that not far from their location was the building they were supposed to attend for their mission briefing, what luck!
When they entered the building they found themselves in a lobby filled to bursting with people, forming some sort of giant snaking queue for the reception desk. After rudely pushing his way to the front of the queue (and subsequently being sent to the back) Tyer-R-TIT-2 recalled a technique he had seen on a telescreen programme, and urged Tryst-R-OFN-2 to cry so they could push to the front of the queue. A small arguement ensued between the pair that resulted in Tyer-R-TIT-2 being poked in the eye. This vicious eye poking was noticed by some members of the queue. Thinking quickly our heroes managed to persuade the gaggle of onlookers that communists had been the assailants, causing a panic amongst the the pedestrians. They quickly evacuated the foyer.
Left with no-one blocking their path to the reception desk our heroes strolled up and began to enquire as to where their briefing room was. Initially there was some confusion as to which room our heroes were ordered to attend, but eventually it was discovered that they were after room #872882892-ab. Unfortunately they did not have clearance for the directions to said room, only to the exit. Luckily the cheery receptionist took advantage of the newly emptied foyer to go on her break, allowing Tryst-R-OFN-2 to rifle through her monitor and discover the location of the briefing room.
Our heroes ascended the building in a lift and, after Tryst-R-OFN-2 walked face first into the closed lift door, found themselves in a corridor of many doors. They could not search for their briefing room, however, as the corridor was for orange clearance only, leaving them stranded on the red square just outside the lift. After a brief conversation between our heroes they were startled by the sudden appearance of a briefing officer, their briefing officer. Following a brief introduction he lead the troubleshooters across the orange corridor and into the briefing room.
Inside the room was barren apart from a desk and three chairs. The three men sat down and the officer explained our heroes' mission. Their neighbour, Syme, was suspected of being a communist traitor. He was to be meeting with another traitor at some point that evening to discuss treacherous communist treachery. The pair of troubleshooters were to observe the meeting between Syme and his contact, and report back. To this end they were assigned a PDC (for a visual record of the treachery) and some prototype stealth suits (the performance of which they were also expected to report).
Following this general briefing our duo were briefly separated as each were given their own private briefing, for security's sake. After both had been fully briefed they were preparing themselves to depart when Tyer-R-TIT-2 remarked that he was weaponless (following the actions of Tyer-R-TIT-1). The briefing officer kindly gifted Tyer-R-TIT-2 an unusually large cylindrical weapon of unknown design. Neither the officer nor Tyer-R-TIT-2 knew of its use but the officer expected a full report. Tryst-R-OFN-2 felt a bit left out by this, and whined his way into possession of some lock-picking spikes, also produced from the officer's bag. Following this, the officer departed.
Fully tooled-up and ready to go our heroes quizzed each other to discover the contents of their secret briefings. Both claimed to have been ordered to examine the colour of the walls, to ensure that they were the right shade of red. This conversation was interrupted when our heroes were startled (again) by the arrival of the painter from their residences. He had been tasked with redecorating the corridor, changing it from orange to red, allowing them to walk back down the corridor to the lift. After commending the man for his fine painting skills our dynamic duo strolled towards the lift, onwards to the third installment of their adventure!
