I finally got around to ordering a new PC. My original plan was to wait for Windows Vista, order individual parts and build it myself but after some shopping around I've found that I might actually get a better deal buying a custom built PC from
PCSpecialist as they are offering a free* Vista Premium upgrade when you buy a Vista ready PC with Windows MCE 2005.
So here it is.
- INTEL® Core 2 Duo E6600 (2 X 2.40GHz) 1066MHz FSB/4MB L2 Cache
- 2048 MB CORSAIR DDR2 667MHz - LIFETIME WARRANTY! (2x1GB)
- ASUS® P5LD2 SE/C: DUAL DDR2, S-ATA, x16 VGA, 3 PCI/3 PCI-E
- MICROSOFT WINDOWS® MCE 2005 (inc. Genuine CD and license)
- Free Upgrade to Vista Premium with purchase of Windows MCE 2005
- 6 x USB 2.0 PORTS (4 REAR 2 FRONT)
- 320GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7200rpm) (x2)
- 18x /- DVD WRITER (8x /- Dual Lyr) (5x DVD-RAM) (40x CD-RW) (x2)
- 768MB GEFORCE 8800GTX PCI Express DVI TV-OUT
- Sound Blaster® Audigy® SE with 7.1 Surround Sound
- WIRELESS 108Mbps NETWORK CARD
- Stylish Silver Aluminium Trigon Case 2 Front/Side USB (Pictured)
- 600W Quiet Quad Rail PSU incl Case Fan and CPU Cooler
- Logitech® Internet Keyboard Hotkeys (Black)
This all for roughly the same price as what I had planned to order in parts except with the bonus of a warranty and a few hundred quids worth of operating system for free* on release.
I'm ordering a decent monitor seperately from dabs as I already had my heart set on a particular model.
The system should arrive in around 2 weeks time, I just hope I have somewhere to put it by then!
