FLCL (or Fooly Cooly as it is sometimes known) has to be one of the most bizarre animes I have ever watched. I decided to watch it after Warren Ellis mentioned it as one of the inspirations behind NEXTWAVE: Agents of H.A.T.E. It is a 6 part OVA about a bored young boy who gets run over by a strange woman on a Vespa who goes on to hit him on the head with her guitar. Obviously, this causes him to grow robots out of his head. 2 episodes in and there are a lot of questions: Who is this eccentric, guitar wielding woman? What has this got to do with the enourmous medical research facility on the hill? What the hell is going on? The show is a visual treat and is just so strange I can't fail to love it.
