The RPS Community
Last weekend I was supposed to be going home to Basingstoke and then onwards to a Ricky Gervais show in London. At the last moment I decided that I wanted to stay in the flat as I'd only just got settled back in and didn't want to just pack everything back up again. And I'm kinda glad I stayed home that night. The Steam community beta ended and suddenly it was open to all comers and pretty quickly, rock paper shotgun had created their own group on the new network. Being a big fan, I immediately joined it and to my delight found myself in the (electronic) presence of several of my favourite games journos. The chat room was full of RPS readerss and we soon established that we'd all be regularly inhabiting this little corner of the internet. We quickly realised we were amongst friends (90% of the people in the chat were listed as playing some form of Peggle) and have since been playing a whole lot of TF2 together on the PCG community server (APPROPRIATED!) and are thinking of forming what is known as a 'clan' in internet parlance. So, a bunch of new buddies, a good chat about comics and music with Kieron Gillen and being both quoted and laudedon my favourite gaming blog made it a rather special night for this young gamer.
